Unlocking Life in the Tomb

And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. (‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭2‬ NKJV)

Over 2000 years ago The Lord Of life, Jesus Christ, died on the cross as He paid for the sins of the world. After they had taken His body off the cross, they took it to the tomb that was loaned to Him by Joseph of arimathea . When they put His body inside the tomb, they put death there why? Because death is meant for a tomb, or, a tomb is meant for death. Death and a tomb go hand in hand.

Then the third day came and something awesome happened. Death was consumed by life, In other words, death had to bow the knee to life. As death submitted to life, deaths power was cancelled and the Holy Spirit gave life to the body of Christ. Suddenly that tomb no longer contained death, but the tomb contained life, however, life had been captured inside the tomb, this was a paradox or a situation of opposites, because life was never meant to be in the tomb. As life was captured in the tomb, something had to take place. What needed to take place?

The Life captured inside the tomb had to be released or loosed. The tomb had to be unlocked.

A mighty earthquake took place and shook that tomb. It was as though the earthquake said to the tomb, ” how dare you still want to capture the life inside of you? That was not all then a mighty angel of God came from heaven to exercise his dominion over that tomb. He started to unlock the life in that tomb by rolling or moving the stone away. The life was released, life was unlocked on the third day.

How does it apply to us? Did this have anything to do with our lives? The answer is yes, what happened to Jesus is a pattern of what happen to us. We are also, heading for our third day when life starts to burst loose out of the tomb. But to enter our third day when life burst loose, we need to get the following revelations.

Our spiritual death had also been put in the tomb:

We are all born in sin Ephesians 2:1 , 1 Timothy 5:6 says that those living in sin, in this case sexual sin are dead while they live. This death because of sin cuts off from God, who is the source of life. In addition to this, we were to just cut off from the source of life, but we were enemies of the source of life. Being dead in our sin we were living in the place that is fitting for death and that place is the tomb. Death and the tomb go hand in hand they belong to each other because they were made for each other. Death and the tomb are twin partners.

The tomb speaks of an atmosphere of bondage and death, the tomb also speaks of a level in the spirit of bondage.

Luke 8:27 satan took this tomb living to the maximum with the demon possessed man of the country of the gardarenes. This man was not just dead in his sin, but he was possessed by a legion of demons. Satan then made him live in the tombs. The tombs were literally his house.

Thank God while being dead towards God and bound to a spiritual tomb, Jesus paid the cost for our sins and things had to change.

Satanic attempts to seal the tomb

Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard. (‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭64-66‬ NKJV)

There is some sad news. Although life has consumed death, many times the tomb has captured life inside and won’t let life out, in the case of Jesus, when life consumed death inside that tomb, certain things had to be done to get life out of the tomb. This is heavens cry Get life out of the tomb.

To understand this we will look at what happened in the case of the death of Jesus because the devil has never changed his tactics and his desires. his plans and desires are today still just as evil and filthy as they had been in the times when Jesus walked on earth.

A demonic command was issued ” seal the tomb”.

When Jesus died on the cross, His body was taken off the cross and put in the tomb. Satan was not yet satisfied. He overheard Jesus saying John 10:17-18 these words sent fear and panic into satan. He then tried to stop the words of Jesus so that it could not be fulfilled. He pushed the Jewish leaders to ask Pilate to seal or secure the tomb so that it could be locked up forever.

Sad to say but this same command has been issued out by satan when it comes to many believers. Satan is still calling out, ” seal the tomb” , don’t let the life God gave them come out of the tomb. Keep their spiritual lives in bondage of the tomb, of many believers it can be said:

Alive in Christ, but bound the Holy Spirit gave them life, resurrection life, but the life is still locked up in the tomb.

Saved but bound saved, but still busy with tomb living .

The stone that locked up the life:

Another command was given put a huge stone in the opening of the tomb to lock the tomb up. Over the years satan has put many stones in the opening of the tomb that stopped us from stepping into the abundant life. Because of these stones, life was locked up in the tomb. Life can only manifest once the stone is moved away.

Examples of the stones that keep our lives in the tomb:

Tradition: old patterns, old beliefs and old ways will keep any person stuck in the tomb. Not being open to new things of the Holy Spirit.

Complaining: The Lord said” any moaning and complaining kill the voice of God that intends to give you insight in your situation” the quicker we stop complaining, the sooner God can step in and get us out of the tomb. Whenever we unhappy about certain things, instead of complaining, God now tells us to use the following pattern or order:
State your case to me, The Lord, do not complain
Then commit it to me lay it at my feet
Then I will give you My solution not yours
God said nobody will get anything out of my hand who continually complains. Complaining stops my hand.

Negative thoughts: eg. I’m unworthy or it’s not for me.

Self pleasing : self pleasing simply means to put to self first and not God first.

Unforgiveness or lack of showing mercy

Impatience blocks Gods hand to move

Fear of man : this replaces the fear of God

Life then consumed death inside the tomb.

Thank God death does not need to have the last say. When a person turns to Christ, then mercy says no to death. We are no longer to be dead in sin because Jesus took the punishment of death upon himself when they killed Him and put His dead body in the tomb. As we turn to Jesus who said ” I am the way, the truth and the life John 14:6″ then death has to bow its knee to The Lord of life Jesus also said John 11:25, 1 John 5:12.

When a sinner repents of his or her sin and turns to Christ with his whole heart, then death is consumed by life, then life kicks out death, and life takes charge.

The Holy Spirit gives life to a sinner who turns to Christ. Just as the Holy Spirit entered the tomb of Jesus and challenged death on its own turf, In the same manner the Holy Spirit will challenge the death of any repentant sinner. Gods spirit will enter any tomb where there is sincere repentance of sin. No tomb will ever keep life out if there is repentance of sin, Gods mercy will always say no to death. Amen.
