(Matthew 8:23-27)

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” (Matthew 8:23-27 NIV)

What is a storm?

A violent, sudden attack on a fortified place.
A disturbance of the normal condition of the atmosphere, manifesting itself by winds of unusual force or direction, often accompanied by rain, snow, hail, thunder and lightening, or flying sand or dust.

What is discernment?

The faculty of discerning, discrimination acuteness of judgement and understanding.
The act or process of exhibiting keen insight and good judgement.
Keenness of insight and judgement.

There are 3 types of storms in the word

There are demonic storms
There are fleshly storms
There are Godly storms

Demonic storms.
Many believers are in a storm, and they have been faithful to God in obedience and yet there is attacks and you asking God why?
You need to rebuke the devil and use your dominion and authority (Matt 18:18)
The storm that the disciple was in was demonic, Jesus rebuked the winds.
Demonic storms always puts fear into you.

Fleshly storms.
Many of us is blaming the devil for storms and even believed that its a test of God an yet God an satan was never the cause of the storm, we were our own enemy.
The solution is simple take responsibility for your actions, God now says discern and act so that you can be free.

Godly storms.
Godly storms are always temporary as God is in control and there’s has to be an expiry date in it.
When you come out of a Godly storm, you always come out with double then what you had.
The purpose of a Godly storm is too boast about you and so that we can see how much God trust us.

Storms determines who we are. Whether you in a demonic, fleshly or Godly storm, it will somehow determine who we really are. Jesus revealed to the disciples that their faith level was weak and that they were fearful after a storm.

So discern your storms, and then call upon the one that calms the storm Jesus. Good news with Jesus in your boat (situation) you can smile at the storm! Amen.
